WES Sensor Management

The optional WES Sensor Management module is a web based system deployed using a standards-compliant architecture supporting a global sensor network, facilitating discovery, access, tasking and alerting for widely dispersed, highly diversified sensors.

Overview

Compusult's WSM simplifies and accelerates the process of establishing an interoperable sensor web by integrating sensor services and encodings into a common framework.

The Web Enterprise Suite XI Sensor Management (WSM) provides a standards-based framework for the discovery, access, use and control of diverse sensors, their metadata, and their observation data. The WSM framework provides an adaptive and flexible environment for integrating sensors without requiring its users to necessarily understand and be exposed to the OGC SWE standards. The WSM is an add-on module to Compusult's Web Enterprise Suite. This suite of applications provides integrated discovery, collaboration and visualization for sensors and data within a user customizable, open source, portal framework.

  • Quickly discover sensors and learn about what they can do (location, observables, quality, ability to task).
  • Obtain sensor descriptions and sensor metadata in a standard metadata format.
  • Retrieve near real-time or archival sensor observations and display or export results in a variety of methods.
  • Sensor discovery and observations are viewable in Google Maps, Google Earth, Bing Maps or the provided WES Viewer.
  • Merge or layer sensor information with other mapping data from other OGC standards such as the Web Mapping Service (WMS).
  • Task, test and control sensors to meet specific needs.
  • Transmits alerts or trigger events when a sensor measures a particular phenomenon, or completes a requested task.
  • Track mobile sensors with real-time location tracking through the WES Mobile Object Tracking Service.

WSM is an optional component of Compusults Web Enterprise Suite; a set of Internet-based applications and toolkits that support Web mapping, information cataloging, discovery, retrieval and delivery services.

WSM is also a contributor to the Open Geospatial Consortium Sensor Web Interoperability initiative.

Mobile Object Tracking Service (MOTS)

Providing access to up-to-the-second visual tracking of mobile object track services such as a GPS location service.

Overview

Compusult’s Mobile Object Tracking Service - MOTS-provides advanced tracking ability overlaying position information in a Web Mapping environment.

MOTS provides access to mobile object track services such as a GPS location service. The object’s metadata is captured and used to render and display objects as overlays in the Web mapping environment. Support for displaying tracks has been implemented in the WES Analyst, Google Maps, Google Earth and Microsoft Bing Maps.

A style management service is used for determining how to portray and style the objects being tracked. The current view in the WES Viewer is automatically updated with refresh rates up to once a second.

MOTS can easily connect to streaming XML services and OGC WFS-enabled servers for display and identity of track data.

Alerts and Alarms

Alerts and Alarms - WSM has built in capabilities for generating alerts and alarms. The conditions for determining an alert or alarm is provided through the WSM user interface. This interface also provides the ability to specify how the alert or alarm is to be delivered (e.g., e-mail, visual display, RSS).
