Web Enterprise Suite is an integrated suite of standards-based
applications that enable the expedient and efficient construction
of spatial Web-based portals providing cataloguing, discovery, retrieval,
delivery, Web mapping, e-commerce and metadata management services.
Web Enterprise Suite may consist of, depending on the version and
configuration requirements, any of the following Standards-based,
Commercial Off-The-Shelf (SCOTS) software components:
WES
Portal - The WES Portal is a pre-configured portal
that enables users to discover, view, assemble and obtain desired
data and services for a particular area of interest without needing
to know the details of how the data and services are stored and
maintained by independent organizations and data custodians. Through
the WES Portal, users can:
- Discover, access, share and organize geospatial information
and content.
- Publish geospatial information and content for others to
use.
- Develop or use existing applications and toolkits to access
portal services.
Percipio
- Percipio is a commercial data warehouse product especially suited
to the needs of organizations for receiving, archiving, cataloguing,
maintaining and disseminating data holdings over intranets and
wide area networks such as the Internet. Percipio provides a number
of interfaces for maintenance and administration of user profiles,
message reception, delivery and other data warehouse configuration
issues.
Meta
Manager - Meta Manager is an advanced metadata
toolkit that provides metadata management. It supports multiple
metadata standards and provides data providers with the ability
to define, map and manage metadata content and to present this
content in a number of formats including XML.
- Meta Manager Z39.50
- Metadata toolkit that enables data providers to expose data
collections and archives as Z39.50-compliant servers for clearinghouse
connectivity.
- Meta Manager WFS
- Metadata toolkit that enables data providers to expose data
collections and archives as OGC-compliant Web Feature Servers.
Meta
Miner - Meta Miner is a middleware gateway
application that provides the ability to perform distributed searching
of remote data servers and services using either the Z39.50 protocol
or the OGC WFS specification.
- Meta Miner Z39.50
- Organizations can create their own information Clearinghouse.
The application includes a Z39.50 client that provides intuitive
search specification fields, a clearinghouse server registration
module and clearinghouse server searching. The client look
and feel and operation is fully customizable and supports
XML processing.
- Meta Miner WFS
- Organizations can create distributed Web Feature Server
data networks. The application includes a stateless WFS client,
a WFS server registration module and distributed WFS search
and result set merge capability.
- Meta Miner Portlet
- Wizard type interface for selecting an Area of Interest
(AOI) and performing searches over central repositories or
over a distributed network.
- Meta Miner Servlet
- A servlet for interacting with the Meta Miner portlet.
Map
Manager - Map Manager is a powerful OGC-compliant
Internet mapping solution providing organizations the ability
to present, link, distribute and publish geomatics-based data,
products and services. Map Manager provides an advanced infrastructure
for users to access spatial information from disparate data sources
and to display the information in powerful, easy-to-use WWW browser
client applications.
- Map Manager Client
- Client application developed using PHTML and provides Web
browser GIS functionality without any plug-ins or downloads.
- Map Manager Server
- A powerful OGC and ArcIMS-compliant Internet Map Server
for hosting and serving a variety of vector and raster layers.
- Map Manager Portlet
- Contains all the functionality of the Web Map Manager Client
but developed and deployed using the J2EE environment. Can
be easily embedded into an external Web page with little effort.
Map Manager Portlet comes configured with a Map Manager servlet
for communication and directional messaging.
- Map Manager Search Portlet
- A “wizard” type interface for combining and
dynamically interacting with search and map operations.
- Map Manager Servlet
- A servlet for interacting with Map Manager portlets.
Service
Manager - A service registry that provides
discovery, access, harvesting and maintenance of Web-based services
metadata. Service Manager architecture has been specifically designed
to be deployed in a multi-tier arrangement of clients and servers.
Discovery of services is provided through a stateless interface
enabling a client to locate service metadata quickly and effectively.
- Publisher
- The Service Manager Publisher is available as a PHTML and
JSP application and provides the ability for Data Custodians
to publish and register geospatial intelligence applications,
services, data and data products in the Service Registry.
PHTML
- PHTML (Parsed HTML) is a development and applications environment
that provides Web content managers and developers with the ability
to create, integrate and dynamically update Web-pages with content
from Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMSs), customer
back-end systems and external applications such as e-commerce.
- Language Manager
- Language Manager provides administrators with the ability
to configure, manage and deploy multi-lingual versions of
a Web Enterprise Suite Website within the PHTML environment.
Translators can use the Language Manager translation facility
to translate and store Website content. Language translations
entered by translators are maintained in a relational database.
When Website translations are completed, the Language Manager
administrative interface will generate a translated Web tree
providing Web users with the ability to select the language
of preference.
MAPBridge
- MapBridge enables effective connectivity to ArcIMS servers configured
on the network.
WFPS
- Web Feature Portrayal Service (WFPS) component provides rendering
of Web feature objects that are obtained by parsing XML obtained
from Web Feature Servers (WFS).
WES
Gazetteer - The Web Enterprise Suite Gazetteer
is composed of three components as follows:
- GAZ Client - A gazetteer search criteria form available
in PHTML or J2EE.
- GAZ Server - An OGC-compliant gazetteer service.
- GAZ Database - An Oracle database populated with the USGS
GNIS and NIMA gazetteers.
Relational
Gateway - A middle-tier product that provides
Web applications with the ability to connect to relational databases
that are maintained inside firewalls. Relational gateway may be
used to connect external networks to Meta Manager databases maintained
inside the firewall.
WES
Services Portlet - A dynamic portlet that provides
portal users with the ability to dynamically configure and list
server-side Web and thick applications for access and launch from
within a Web portal environment.
